How to cure sleep apnea: treatment options from Sleep Apnea HQ

There are a number of treatments available that are highly effective as cures for sleep apnea.

For snoring and mild to moderate cases of obstructive sleep apnea, oral appliances are the gold standard for treatment. At Sleep Apnea HQ, we use top of the range appliances with a proven record of success, such as the Airway Eze and SomnoDent MAS.

Our custom-made acrylic appliances generally consist of upper and lower plates and a comfortable, soft inner lining. They work as a snoring and sleep apnea cure by moving the lower jaw slightly downwards and forwards. This helps to keep the tongue and other soft tissues from obstructing the airway, ensuring normal breathing throughout the night. These appliances are also fully adjustable, so they can be fine-tuned even after manufacture.

In other cases, we might recommend CPAP therapy, which stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. This sleep apnea treatment option consists of a mask and hose, which is attached to a machine that continuously pumps air through the nose, keeping the airway clear. While CPAP is effective as a cure for sleep apnea, it does have the disadvantages of being quite noisy and uncomfortable.

In more severe obstructive sleep apnea cases, a surgical approach may be appropriate. This would be carried out by an ear, nose and throat surgeon, in consultation with Sleep Apnea HQ.
