Overnight sleep studies are a crucial first step in establishing a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea. They can be performed in hospital, but at Sleep Apnea HQ we have portable sleep equipment that can be taken home, so you can undertake your testing in the comfort of your own bed.
Sleep studies are very straightforward. On the night of your study, you will come to Sleep Apnea HQ, and we will place the equipment and most of the sensors onto your body. At home, you then place the remainder of the sensors right before you go to bed.
The next morning, the equipment is removed and returned to Sleep Apnea HQ, along with the ‘Flashcard’ that contains the statistics. This is sent to a specialist sleep physician, and the sleep study results are then sent back to Sleep Apnea HQ within 7-10 days.
If obstructive sleep apnea is the problem, the next step is to evaluate the airways to determine the best treatment for you, incorporating the preliminary information from your sleep study.
Australia has only a handful of practitioners who possess both a pharyngometer and rhinometer for evaluating the airways: luckily for you, Sleep Apnea HQ is one of them. With the use of this specialised equipment, we can quickly, painlessly and accurately determine the most appropriate treatment for your personal situation.
