Though initially trained as a general dentist, Phil has a great enthusiasm for sleep dentistry. Over the years, he has worked with hundreds of patients who have suffered from snoring and sleep apnea, and has helped them to gain a new lease on life. Patients who previously couldn’t carry out normal everyday activities without dozing off are suddenly energised, better able to concentrate, and more productive in work and leisure.
Phil’s work in sleep dentistry has also given him many opportunities to help patients with the management of temporomandibular joint problems and tinnitus.
Phil’s passion for improving physical and mental health through sleep dentistry has driven him to continue training and studying throughout his career. His thirst for knowledge has led to numerous qualifications and experiences, including but not limited to:
- Advanced Studies in Occlusion, Dental Aesthetics, Bite Repositioning, and Facial Pain Relief through the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies (2007-2010)
- Mini Residency in Sleep Dentistry and Medicine and Temporomandibular Disorders with Dr Steve Olmos (QLD, 2011)
- Residency in Orthotropics: studies in craniofacial development to help improve airways, sleeping, and facial development (California, 2011-2012)
- Studies in Orthopostural Dentistry (Sydney, 2011-2012)
Dr Stein is committed to using the best available evidence and equipment in his practice. He regularly utilises sophisticated techniques and technologies, such as sleep studies, the pharyngometer and rhinometer, and 3D imaging, to ensure an accurate diagnosis and highly effective treatment for his patients.
Outside of work, Phil enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, playing sports and coaching his son’s football team, and giving back to the community through volunteer activities.
